Where you live can affect how active you are and what
you eat. Are there safe places to walk and play? Are high quality foods
available at a reasonable cost? "Strides to a Healthier Community"
was developed to help South Dakota communities create healthy
environments and policies.

Wellness Tool Kit:
The
Strides to a Healthier Community Wellness Challenge Took
Kit promotes the benefits of a healthy lifestyle in
South Dakota. The tool kit includes an overview of a
wellness challenge a step by step guide to setting up
the wellness challenge whether it is a steps, minutes,
or 5 A Day challenge. Included in the tool kit are a
variety of supplemental materials including registration
forms, calendars, advertisements and sample challenge
resources.

Active Living Leadership: Basic facts on creating environments that encourage
physical activity, including policy development resources. Also includes a calculator for communities
and businesses to calculate what costs are associated with physical inactivity in their community or business.
