Interactive DRI for Healthcare Professionals
The Food and Nutrition Information Center (FNIC) has launched the Interactive DRI for Healthcare Professionals a new online tool that calculates an individual’s daily nutrient recommendations based on the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs). This tool is intended to be used by healthcare professionals — registered dietitians, doctors, nurse practitioners, and others who may have an interest in using these values for dietary planning purposes. It puts individual nutrient recommendations at the fingertips of those professionals who can help consumers interpret and use these DRI values to guide healthy dietary behaviors. This tool is the result of collaboration between the National Agricultural Library/FNIC and the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion.

The March 2009 issue of The Milbank Quarterly is devoted to obesity as a public policy issue.
