South Dakota Healthy Kids, Healthy America
Intended Audiences
These training modules were designed to be used with individuals and staff who work in schools, outside-of-school time (OST) programs, residential facilities, extra-curricular programs, and other agencies serving youth. The modules are also appropriate for parents and caregivers. The primary goal of these modules is to improve nutrition and physical activity policy and environments that support healthy choices for youth.
There are six, 45-60 minute modules with video-streamed presentations and accompanying PowerPoint presentations and handouts. They are designed to be used for individual viewing, staff meetings, school and OST staff in-services, parent/community meetings, regional trainings, or other appropriate settings. South Dakota Healthy Kids recommends viewing all six modules in any order over a period of time (i.e. semester, school-year) as the information within each module complements the others. Together the modules provide a comprehensive approach to improving nutrition and physical activity policy and environments.
